The above is an email response from the Coach that designed my training plan. Today, Monday, I was suppose to run 3 miles at a steady state staying aerobic at all times. Need-less-to-say, the run DID NOT happen. Today, was the start of week 4 of training.I haven't missed a run yet! However, I think last week caught up to me!! Between Christmas party Tuesday night, working walk-in clinic until 7pm on Thursday, breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning, buying a tree, putting up a tree, laundry, grocery shopping, and the million other errands..... I just haven't gotten the amount of sleep that I am used to!!! I am usually in bed by 8:30-9pm and up at 3:30-3:45am! So, this morning, the alarm was turned off and reset to a later time! Once up, I type my "sad story" to the coach for advice on what to do.... make up miles by adding to other runs this week? Or just let the 3 miles slide! Have to say, I was glad that the coach simply responded, "Life happens"...... "carry-on." Truly, there are just some things in life we can't control........ and there is no reason to fret the small stuff! (I constantly have to remind myself of this).....
Now, GARMIN GONE MAD!
So, yesterday, I ran my longest distance yet!!!!! And, a VERY detail oriented friend/fellow blogger noticed that my Garmin picture showed the date as Nov 29th!!!! Annndddd, we all know that yesterday was Dec 6th!!!! Bizzarro!!!!! Totally weird!!!! This set me on a quest to figure out what in the world happen?!?! I mean the time and date are set by satellite.... so what gives?!?! I posted the question about this on my personal Facebook page, a running group Facebook page, googled it, and emailed Garmin tech support. Interesting enough, this apparently happens ALOT! More so with the "fancy type" GPS watches. Remember, I just received this watch a couple weeks ago. My much simple Garmin never did such!!! Most common response to the question on Facebook from fellow runners is that you have to "reset" the watch.... I don't know exactly why this is to be honest. And the following is the response from Garmin:
To a non-tech person, this is just a bunch of Blah, Blah, Blah!!! But I can follow steps, even though I really am not sure what or why I am doing the steps. But hey, if it works.... so be it!!!! I tell you, I am not into all the fancy stuff.... I like simple!!! Only reason I ordered this watch was for the heart rate training for the full marathon in March..... not a bad watch by any means, but come on..... "fancy high tech" and can't get the date right?!? Sheesh!!!! LOL!!! Just kidding really :D
Okay, I apologize for this blog post all over the place... but moving on to something else...... Did you see that Kara Goucher won the San Antonio Rock n' Roll half?!?! time 1:11:09!!!!! I just LOVE her! So inspirational! Talk about over coming obstacles only to end up on top!!! She is on FIRE lately!!!!! YAY KARA!!!! :D
This week's schedule is as follows:
Monday (today) 3 miles.... DIDN'T HAPPEN!
Tuesday-Thursday 3 miles each day
Friday- REST!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh
Saturday- 6 miles
Sunday- 13 miles
Well, time to finish up the nightly weekday routine and get to bed!!! Until LATER.................
