Today, was not my best running day!!! I attended a dinner that I was invited to, and ended up staying up way too late!!!! Between that 5k yesterday, errands during the day, and the dinner, my body was not rested!!!! Also, there were late evening during the week without other Christmas festivities....I felt it!!!!! And, it definitely affected my running today! But, I would't changed a thing, because I was able to hang out with some GREAT people last evening! IT was fun and rarely happens!
My Garmin must have had a bad night too...... it couldn't determine if it was "today" or "tomorrow" (see pic above).... LOL!!!! :D
Okay, back to this morning! I had a HARD time getting my butt out of bed!!!!! I woke up literally 30 min prior to needing to leave my house!!! I texted (through viber app) my dear friend in Belgium who always gives me the BEST advice!!!! And, this morning was no different..... here (the pic below) is her motivating me to get going.... LOL... spoken like a GREAT Friend and Runner!!!! HA! HAHAHAHAHA! HA!
That was just the MOTIVATION I needed!!!!! :D
Listen, I showed up to run with full make-up on!!! That's right!!! I had my make-up on... ONLY because I never washed my face last night!!!!! HA! HA!!!!! :D
Ok, break down of run..... 13 miles were on the training schedule!!!! No! 13 miles didn't get done!!!! My legs were heavy (most likely from 5K yesterday followed by additional 3 miles afterwards) and my body tired! I managed to get 10.41 miles at an average pace of 9:54..... then I walked a mile afterwards with strides (so 11.41miles on my feet total today...but not 13).
10.41 at average pace 9:54
mile 1-10:04
mile 2- 9:38
mile 3- 9:45
mile 4- 9:21
mile 5- 9:52
mile 6- 9:48
mile 7- 8:52 (I took a GU-my legs were tired-I decided to slow down)
mile 8- 9:28(things began to get not so pretty)
mile 9- 10:24(slowed WAY down)
mile 10- 11:48(struggled and walked a bit)
last 0.41 miles - 4:00
Bottom line: Lessons learned today!!!!!! And, although not my best run, at least I was able to get a long run in..... now, move one and look forward! Last week, 15 miles felt great! Just goes to show you, there is more to being an efficient runner...... fuel, sleep.... there has to be balance! But, you know what, life happens! And again, I had a good time with great people last night! Worth the struggle!
So, I drive home 40 minutes out of town where I was running, and my watch has the date right....ugh!!! Yes, priority on the "to do list" this week is to reset this watch and hope it can keep the right date!
There was a sled down town Valdosta........ after suggestion from another runner about getting a picture in it, we all couldn't pass up the chance! Love all the decorations downtown Valdosta!!!!
Well, today was a tough running day! It is OK! Honestly, as I once read, "A bad run is still a good run"..... important thing is that I ran!
Well, since I chose to nap today, I must finish up laundry and getting ready for the week! Take care! Thanks again for all of your support!
UNTIL LATER.....................
***** Life stuff ever interfere with your training? Seriously, there has to be balance, but you just can't miss out on some life events! Especially at the holidays!
***** Isn't it funny how some runs are absolutely FABULOUS and then there are runs that test your RUNNING SPIRIT?!?!?!!
