Saturday...... kinda a late running start of the day for me since the local 5K that I was running started at 8:30am. However, it was actually a good thing, with all the holiday festivities going on, I have had a number of late nights which have caught up to me!!!! Usually, I am in bed by 8:30 and 9pm at the latest! Hence, why I get up so early in the morning! Early to bed, early to get up in the morning! So, with the late start, I was able to sleep in a bit!
The 5k was at the High school that I attended my senior year only (dad was military and we moved to Georgia my senior year). Man, the school has changed a great deal since I was there in 1990!!!! It looks AWESOME!
Ok, my Garmin still can't seem to stay on the correct day!!! Errrrr!!! The strange thing is that I live 40 minutes out of town... and at my house, the watch always has the correct date..... but go into town, and it is like the watch goes through a time warp!!!! Bizarro!!!!! Guess it is time to pull up the email that Garmin sent to me in reference how to fix this issue!!! But sheesh, I don't have time for all that!!!! Not now! Not in December! Not this close to Christmas!!! My stockings haven't even been hung for goodness sake!!! LOL! :D
Oh, yeah.... the Garmin can't keep the correct date, but let me sit still for 40 min on the ride home from town, and the crazy watch beeps and tells me to "MOVE!"...... HA! HAHAHAHA! HA! :D
Well, the one thing that the watch seems to be able to do correctly is keep up with my miles and pace..... Today, like I said, I ran a local 5K.... but I had 6 miles on my marathon training plan. Therefore, after I ran through the finish shoot, I simply kept running in order to get an additional 3 miles. Here is the break down of today's run:
6.01 miles total at an average 8:48 pace
Mile 1- 7:56
Mile 2- 8:16
Mile 3- 8:28 (end of 5k)
Mile 4- 9:19 (slowed down to complete 6 miles needed for today)
Mile 5- 9:21
Mile 6- 9:20
There was no PR (Personal record) today....... Santa was at the finish line, and I yelled to him that all I wanted for Christmas was a PR, he hollered back that I had to wait until Christmas!! LOL!! :D
Yes, no PR today, however, I did get 1st in my age group... would have been 2nd, however, a girl in my age group actually took OVERALL female place, and there is no "double dipping" at these races. Therefore, taking overall, bumps her out of the category! :) So, I received this awesome backpack bag.........
My son and I prior to his Christmas program at school! He said he was soon nervous!!!! However, as you see by the photo below as he was coming down the aisle, he had gotten over his nerves well!
After the program, parents were able to go up in order to take a photo, annnddd........ of course, my son is "that one kid"... the one that goofs off at picture time!
Well, that is all for now....... have a dinner to go to tonight... have to rest up!
UNTIL LATER!!!!!!..............

*** When training, do you ever incorporate a "race" in a training run? I tell you, my legs were heavy after pushing my limits racing the 5k and then followed by 3 additional miles.
*** Are you ready for Christmas? Or are you trying to stay above water like me due to all the festivities?!
