SUNDAYYYYYYYYYYYY........ means LONG RUN day!!!
For today's long run, training plan called for 12 miles at pace to be between 9:40-10:05. My friend Rhonda joined me at the early hour of 6am!!! We ended up with 12:01 miles at 9:59 average pace! BOOM👊!! Breakdown of run mile splits: 10:35, 10:21, 10:35, 10:06, 9:59, 9:41, 10:03, 9:39, 9:47, 9:48, 9:41, 9:18 (little fast at the end, perhaps we were both super excited to be running the last mile). Seriously, the HEAT and HUMIDITY here in South Georgia is just ridiculous! Anyway, Sunday's run is checked ✅ off!!! YAY!!! I actually felt good. I ran a 4 mile race the day before, but honestly, my legs felt amazingly good.
4 MILER RACE
The 4 mile race Saturday is the 3rd of 4 races total..... the medal is a puzzle that is complete once all 4 races are completed! Pretty cool. For me, Saturday was not a PR (personal record)... per my garmin I ran 31:25 (average pace 7:55) with splits: 7:30 (really tried to stay controlled at beginning and not go out too fast like I usually do), 8:10, 8:02, 7:41 (actually felt like I was finally in a grove and it was the last mile -ugh) .... not what I had hoped for considering last time I ran in worse conditions 30:43 (average 7:45) with splits: 7:19, 8:01, 7:49, 7:32. In February, my Time was 31:06 (7:48 average pace) with splits: 7:33, 7:59, 7:57, and 7:36. So, out of the 3 times running the course, Saturday was my worse performance. Why? No excuses.... just stunk. Goes to show you that taking a little time off from training plan can affect you. But, I ran the best I could on that particular day..... it is, what it is! Hopefully, sticking to training now and getting head into game, I will see improvement in future and not set back. Looking forward....
How cute is this dog pictured above? He ran the 4 miles!!!! He even got a medal!!!! He was too cute not to get a picture. Plus, he was deaf...... the owner communicated through sign language!!! He was truly the sweetest!
The weather called for rain...... I was lucky enough to finish prior to the down pour..... but man, all of a sudden the bottom dropped out of the sky!!!!!!!
Well, This is short...... I had plans to talk about different times of runs on training plan..... will need to save for future post. The house chores have taken up most of my day..... andddddd, I still have a ton to do. So, until later.........
