Oh, the above sign is the perfect name for a street in the subdivision that I ran in this morning...... For local people, I am talking about Old Wood Valley! Yeah, you know that this street named "Rolling Hill" describes the entire subdivision!!! It is literally a series of rolling hills!!!! Annnnnddd, Steep hills like the picture below.
I had 3 miles on my training plan. I was off today, but still had to transport my son to school...... so, I tried to figure out the best place to run when people are hustling to work and traffic is busy! I mean, just like the t-shirt that the coach that designed my training plan had on the other day said, "Don't be a speed bump, run safe!" LOL!!! Yes, I did not want to be a speed bump for anyone hurrying to work! Sooooo, I thought, since I am a member at the local YMCA, I would park there.... lock my stuff in a locker, and run a subdivision that is right next to the YMCA. Practical thinking, right?!?! Seems like the right thing to do, correct? Well, here is the deal, the coach that design my training plan for my full marathon and who is still writing training plans for me, had on the schedule today 3 miles -run steady! I am in a low key 21 day recovery from the Marathon..... I am suppose to be running "steady." No speed work! No hill work!
Anyway, I finished up the run/hill work and walking out of the subdivision to head back to the YMCA to where I parked my car....... And, what are the odds that the one person that told you not to be running hills at the present time would simply drive by as I was walking right out the entrance of the subdivision?!?! YEP, you got it, the Coach!!! I waved, I think he nodded..... not sure if he quite recognized me, but the "deer in headlights" look made me look suspicious and guilty!!!!! Oh, I know I will hear about this.... LOL! :D
Not the first time I was busted by coach.... those who follow my blog remember that during my marathon training (click HERE for post) , the coach found me at the grocery store with bags of chips in my shopping cart.... but, they were buy 1, get one free! And, they were for my husband!!! I am not a chip kind of girl....I like cupcakes!!! HA! HA! :D
Anyway, to top it off, I got lost in the subdivision!!! Not only is it hilly, there are twists and turns that make you lose all sense of directions!!! UGH!!! Hence why I was walking when Coach past... I had finished my 3 miles and probably walked an entire mile more because I was lost!!! Literally, I used the GPS on my phone to get out!!! ***SIGH***
Did pretty good as far as heart rate is concerned! :)
Today, my son and I received an awesome package in the mail.... all the way from Belgium!!! My friend, Michelle sent us these FABULOUS St. Patrick's Day T-shirts from a 5k that she organized called the SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) Shamrock Shuffle! Pretty neat-o, right?!?
GOTTA RUN..... UNTIL LATER!!! HAPPY MONDAY!!!
