Ahhhhhhhh, today was the day that I finally came out of SLACKER mode!!!! It has been 8 FULL days since I last ran!!!! Some have told me that it was good for me and allowed my ligaments, tendons, and muscles a rest after running the marathon in Albany, Ga....... yeah, that is one way to justify my laziness!!!! LOL! :D
None-the-less, it felt good to meet up with my friend Brandy for a run today...... unlike me, she has stayed pretty much on track since running Albany.........
So, I purchased a Fitbit Surge this past week....... I hadn't even heard of the Fitbit surge until a few weeks ago!! Nope, never thought of anything besides Garmin.... and then Brandy's mom bought her a Fitbit and the craze hit the office!! Yep, Brandy went on and on about the features of the Fitbit, how easy it was to operate, syncs easily to smart phone, and etc! So, yeah, my interest started.... then, another friend of mine (who loves tech stuff) got on board after hearing Brandy talk about the Fitbit. Then........ a physician assistant in the office who has gotten the running bug bought one!!!!!!! Annnndd, so there was no other option, I too had to get in on this Fitbit craze!!!! I am by far a tech junkie.... but, after all I heard, it was like Fitbit Surge was made for me!!!!!!!!!! I am all about tech stuff made easy!!!!! And, for those who follow my blog, you remember my Garmin dilemma during my marathon!!!! So, you know, one slight change in setting throws me off and getting Garmin to the setting I desire takes me forever!!! Not to mention that I have to google "how to" in reference to what I am trying to do on the garmin! But, let me tell you!!!! Fitbit is idiot proof!!!! So very easy!!! And, you can switch between setting in a snap!! It connects to satellite quickly and syncs information in a matter of seconds!!!! Garmin syncs to phone, but it takes a while! And, sometimes, connecting to a satellite takes longer than I like.
So, yeah, I was a goober and wore both the fitbit and Garmin on my run today to compare.......
The Fit bit maps out runs just like Garmin......
Fitbit breaks done Lap and mile splits!!!
Fitbit maps out heart rate zones!!! EEeeekk..... I stayed in my peak zone.... after 8 days of not running..... I could feel the fact that I had been a slacker lately!!!!!
Garmin too maps out run!!!!!
Garmin breaks down Mile slits and such...
And the ONE thing that separates Garmin is that it keeps up with cadence which is something the the Fitbit does not do.....
Last night, my son requested Daylight Donuts for the morning.... therefore, on my way back from running, I made a special stop by Daylight donuts!!! And, but the look on my son's face, I scored major "cool" mom points....... annnndd, I have a confession, there were 3 chocolate donuts although there are only 2 in this picture......so, yeah, I admit it, I ate one on the way home!!!! :D
On Saturday, my son and loaded up in the car and headed to town.... he was so excited, he was on his way for a playdate with his friend from class!!!!! It was a fun time!!!
