Ok, so yesterday, I was in denial about feeling extremely fatigued and having a scratchy throat. I just thought it HAD to be allergies due to the bipolar weather here in south Georgia.... 86 degrees one day and then 40 degrees the next day. In the middle of the night, I awoke with chills and feeling like I swallowed razor blades! UGH! This morning, the fatigue, post nasal drainage, sore throat, body aches, and low grade fever made me accept that I have not been able to dodge the illness that we have been treating the last week at the office. Made it to the office, but my oh so honest co-workers told me I looked like death! HA! No offense was taken, because honestly, I felt like death! I so wish there was a "magic pill" to make me feel 100% instantly. Incidentally, I was sent home! And to bed for me! UGH! BUT!!!! Let me tell you why this even more a BIG deal!! I have a 15k run this weekend!! My first 15K distance!! I am running the GATE in Jacksonville, Florida. Last year I was all signed up and had to back out due to a foot injury! I can't back out this year! Not again! Starting to wonder if it just isn't meant for me to run this race.... hmmm... just kidding. Luckily, today was a rest day in training for me, although I usually cross train. I skipped the cross training to allow my body to rest. And, I am not going to worry about the race this weekend, after all, with it being my first 15K, I am guaranteed a PR! Must think positive, right?!? Sorry so short, but I must continue to rest today!
How do you handle being sick and made to rest?
How do you stay positive even when you have a run coming up and sickness or injury occurs right before? Do tell, I would like to know! Plus, might be helpful for others that may read this... thanks in advance! Comment below!
