Ok, maybe near death at the hands of speed work might be a little bit of a dramatic title....... but let me tell you, speed work was as hard as I had thought it might be!!!!!! I can not say that this is my favorite work out.....but, I now it will help me get faster and that it is something that must be done!!! On the training plan: warm up 1 mile then 8X400s at 1:35 +/-3 seconds followed by a 1 mile cool down. My friend Brandy (not pictured) guided my friend Rhonda and I through our first trip around the track. We did pretty good at goal pace until the 7th and 8th time around... then we ended up around 1:54. The coach said that was ok........ (and on a side note, it was a HOT 70 degree afternoon that we were running in.... not that I am looking for pity or an excuse for today's effort....LOL)
I wore my fitbit because the screen is large enough for my 40 year old eyes to see...... LOL!!!!! I used the stop watch function which I just restarted after each 400. Coach said, "Why don't you set it to laps, and then you just have to hit after each lap and it will track it." My friend Brandy and I said that we didn't thing that was a feature of the Fitbit.... so wrong were we.... LOL! Yes, there is a lap feature.... and yes, I will use it next time! Then, I will have each too broken down!!
Rhonda and I were all smiles are completing our first speed track work.... and yes, we are sitting on a bench taking a selfie... our legs were lead!!!! But we mustered up these smiles...... the smile of relief that we survived!!! HA! HA! :D
