Up and ready..... took a mirror selfie in the hotel room! :)
I am all geared up! The gloves were a little big, but they were cheap ones I picked up at the expo.... I kinda though I might lose my gloves during the race, and the ones I brought were too costly to risk that! The arm warmers are simply socks!! LOL! I got this idea from another blogger, Lisa! Check her Facebook page. I safety pinned my GU to my SPI belt....this tip came from one of the runners, Elizabeth, that I run with on Sundays. Annddd, it worked out GREAT!!! I will forever do this!! You would think they would bounce around, but you don't even notice them!!! And they tear off so easy!!! Just AWESOME!!!
Breakfast!!! Yes, along with my cooler I brought paper plates!! LOL! However, I had only brought plastic spoons for the peanut butter, so the banana looks kinda funny cut up because I only had the spoons. Mental note: need to bring plastic knives too!
The above picture is at mile 17.... yes, I was taking selfies and posting to my personal Facebook page!! LOL!... I was mad at my garmin! But, I will get into that when I write my full race recap!
The above picture is at mile 22.... I posted this to Facebook with the caption, "Mile 22 sucks so far!!! Excuse the language! LOL."
Here I am coming in at the finish..... there were a group of fellow runners from Valdosta that just happened to show up and surprise all of us!!!! What a great surprise!! These folks are awesome!!!!! One special person even videoed me coming in and my hat blowing off at the end!!!! The video can be viewed at my Facebook page My Time Runner Girl
The above pictures are of all the Valdosta Marathoners!!! All the ladies were all first time marathoners!!!!
This lady with me in this picture is AMAZING!!! This is my previous boss and I am proud to call her a dear friend. She drove all the way to Albany, GA to see me cross the finish line! Is that AWESOME or what?!?!!! She is the one who gets credit for videoing me coming in at the finish!!
This is a day I will forever remember!!!! I have to say, I will consider running this marathon next year, now that I know what to expect. My training can go from simply putting mileage on my feet to making me a stronger runner..... incorporating core work, speed work, etc.....
The day after the full marathon, I felt better than I thought I would. Yes, my quads were tight and I had the marathon wobble going on when I first started to walk, but other than that, feeling pretty good!!!! I went for my 20 minute walk that was on my training plan for the day after the BIG day!!! :)
Gotta run..... total recap coming in near future blog post :)
