Race day morning
I woke up Saturday morning........ and I was feeling pretty good!!!! And, thank goodness I always schedule a hotel wake up time along with setting alarm on my cell phone....... because my cell phone was set for 5:00PM instead of AM.... oh that would have been bad! Really bad!!! oh, what if I had over slept?!? YIKES!
Anyway, I started the morning by eating my traditional "race day" and "long run" breakfast with a half of a bagel topped with peanut butter (lots of peanut butter) and a banana! I downed a bottle of water! I had brought everything with me, except a banana.... so, the night before, I called to the restaurant in the hotel to ask if they had a banana that I could purchase. So, funny, the restaurant lady said, "You want A BANANA?!?" I said, yes, if you have a banana available.... I went on to explain that I was running the half marathon in the morning, but had forgotten to bring a banana. She said sure, come on down to the restaurant. And, so I did..... when I got to the restaurant, I explained that I had asked about purchasing a banana.... the lady laughed and said, "oh yes! I will be right back." She then returned, handed me the banana and laughed.... she said, "I am not going to charge you for A BANANA!" LOL! :D
After eating, I the got dressed in my race gear.....then, I headed out for a 2 mile run. Since I had 2 miles to run, I decided to go check out the starting line and figure out where everything was... it was easy to find since the start was only a block away, and there was LOUD music PUMPING in the streets already at 6am! Oh, I was getting really excited!!!!!! I then ran into a person dressed as a house... I requested a picture and the house was like ABSOLUTELY! I then handed my phone to a lady holding a clip board who was kind enough to snap the picture. She then requested I text it to her, and so I did. She then said to me, "You have my number now, if you need anything, let me know! I am the race director!" How cool is that?!?!
About 7am, everyone was gathering at the start line.......
Here is my friend Arlene and I at the start line..... oh yes, the adrenaline was kicking in..... everything was becoming real!!!
There were other Valdosta folks running too.... had to get a group shot and of course, some random guy photo bombed us!!! LOL!!! I didn't even know he jumped into pick until writing this blog!!! HA! HA! :D
And, here are more Valdosta folks........ it was like the local Valdosta runners were meeting in Tallahassee for our long run! :D
I had gone to the hotel that was a block away to get out of sweaty clothes ..... but then when I got back to the finish line I saw these two... could pass up a photo.... LOL! :D
Well, I have to go...... I will continue in another blog post this week a break down of the race itself..... Last year, I had stated that Tallahassee was by far my favorite race.... and I must say, It continues to be!!! I adore Tallahassee and this run........ everything about it is top notch!!! I will share in future blog post, so stay tuned! Yes, if I am able to run, I will be back next year.
UNTIL LATER!!! HAPPY MONDAY!!!!!!
