Mileage has for sure increased for me as the BIG day approaches.... and yes, it is a sacrifice to get up a little bit earlier and run longer in the mornings.... but honestly, I am feeling stronger and stronger each day!!!!! No, I will not Boston Qualify during my upcoming first full marathon, but I will have reached a personal goal of running 26.2!!!!! I am super excited, but nervous at the same time. My training plan goes up to 18 miles, and it is a bit nerve racking to know that I will have never covered a full marathon distance prior to March 5th...... Bottom line, I am TRUSTING the plan!!!!! So far, it really has made me a stronger runner!!!
On Sunday, I will be squeezing the Tallahassee Half Marathon in the middle of a Long training run! It will be fun to run my long run in a different city! Funny thing is that many of the Sunday runners that I run with here in Valdosta will also be running in Tallahassee!! How cool is that?!?
I have been advised.... or actually TOLD by the coach who designed my training plan to "stay controlled" and run a 9:30-9:45 pace during the entire half marathon....... On of my goals is to run a sub 2 hour half, and with me feeling stronger than ever, it will be hard to stay controlled. I mean with the excitement of toeing up at the starting line, adrenaline pumping through my veins, local people also running, etc, I will need to keep a handle on myself and not try for that goal!!!!!! I must!!!!!!!! ****sigh****
Today, I went to see my friend Lisa (see pic below) at a new local running store that opened right here in Valdosta!!! How COOL is that?!?! I LOVE the name "Wild Side Running." The AWESOME thing is the owner came from Albany, GA to run a local race recently, and he is giving away cool Brooks t-shirts to the first 50 people who sign up for a local race to support the local college's XC team!!! Pretty fabulous..........
Non-related running news, my son lost both of his 2 front teeth!!! He was super excited and said that he now looks like a vampire!!!! LOL! :D
Thank all of you supporting me on my running journey and who support my blog and social media sites (Facebook, twitter, and Instagram)....... lately, I know I haven't kept this blog up, but honestly, I really need just a few more hours in the day because it is taking everything I got to keep up with work, family, school, laundry, housework (well, ok.... maybe I haven't even kept up with housework since my house is a total wreck actually), and all other duties...... will do better after marathon when my miles in significant decrease.... :D
Speaking of after the marathon.... I have been informed that speed work will begin after I am fully recovered from the full marathon in March...... UGH! I HATE (maybe that is a strong word) speed work.... I am just not a short and fast kinda run girl.... I am so much better at long and slow-steady running)..... Oh well, sometimes we just gotta do what we gotta do, right?!!? Again, another war running teaches us about life.... there are somethings we don't like to do, but guess what, sometimes you don't have a choice! Just have to go with it..... and get it done! :D
