There were 8 miles on the training schedule today. I met up with 2 other runners, and one said, "I know a route that is 8 miles that will be fun. Few hills, but a fun route." Famous last words, "It will be fun." LOL! :D
Actually, it was a bit fun and was nice to mix up the routine by changing the route!!! Besides, don't they say that "hills are speed work in disguise?!? Right?!?!" For local folks, if you were thinking, "Is that Old Wood Valley?, you would be right!!!!!
There 4 pics above show you that it was hill after hill after hill.... LOL! At least on about 1.5-2 miles of the course.
The hill above is quite the monster!!! SURE, Running down was GREAT, but in view, you could see what was before you...... a gradual long high incline hill!!! For local folks, the is Baytree heading toward the college! Ran right by Daylight Donuts!!! YUM!!! But, DANG! If I had know we were running by Daylight Donuts, I would have brought a little cash with me!!! HA! HAHAHAHAHA! HA! :D
On to the actual run, let me break it down for you!!!
RUN Break Down: 8.01 miles at 9:38 overall average pace
MILE 1- 9:52 (getting all warmed up)
MILE 2- 9:12
MILE 3- 9:43
MILE 6- 9:32
MILE 7- 9:51
MILE 8- 9:35
Also, I tried out the new headband ear warmer from Oiselle. It was very comfy, very soft, and was not tight feeling. However, I did still end up with a mark across my forehead like with the other one I mentioned in a previous post.... but, the mark faded quick. I think I like this one!!!
Well, time to get caught up on laundry and such...... woot! woot! so exciting, right?!?! LOL!..... 17 miles on books tomorrow! Eeeek!
Do you incorporate hills into your training? Love them? Hate them? I tend to like them for some strange reason..... not to say that I am the quickest to get up the hills, but I do have a bit fun running them.........
Favorite headband ear warmer? Or do you wear a beanie? If so, please share the brand...... always looking for the perfect running gear!
