Yes, life threw a curve ball at me!!! I ended up with a upper respiratory infection!!! UGH!!! Have had some say that all my training for the marathon has worn me down...... well, I tend to think that my job as a Nurse Practitioner in the middle of respiratory season had something to do with it!!!! I mean patient after patient on walk-in had this stuff.... just as I thought I had dodged it, BAM! I caught it!!!!!
Come Friday, I was REALLY tired, more tired than usual! Remember my post about stopping by Outback restaurant for take out due to being so tired?!?! That was the first warning, I think! The picture above is at the race I ran on Saturday. I was so TIRED! Kinda more pale than usual, well, maybe.... I am naturally pretty pale! LOL :D
I went home and literally chilled the ENTIRE day! I just felt "off." Little did I know, in the middle of the night, I would awake with fever and a sore throat!!! A feeling like swallowing razor blades type of sore throat! UGH! I was DONE!
How I managed to pull out first in my age group? I have no idea!!!But it was a sweet winning!!! Scored a cool thermal bag and a couple of gift cards!
These words of wisdom above..... and the many emails, text messages, and Facebook messages telling me that I was being smart by not running was giving me a bit too much credit!.... Honestly, I couldn't muster up enough energy to lace up and run if I wanted to...... my body literally was not strong enough... I was wiped off my butt!
My poor nose.... having to keep vaseline on between blowing my nose to protect my skin integrity... UGH! I know you just wanted to see a picture of my nose! LOL!
Oh how this would have came in handy today!!! Saw this on Pinterest.. wonder if I can make one prior to returning to work .... hmmm........ I did visit the doctor (Nurses are the worse patients just FYI) and received a shot in the boo-tay! So, between that and nyquil, I pray that I get sleep.................
Sorry so short, but, I am now going to get ready for bed and call it a night! Work in the morning! Missed my long run Sunday and today's run.... hopefully, slow and easy, and I will make tomorrow's run.... we will see. UNTIL LATER...... please forgive grammar errors... seriously, I am loaded up on cold medicine!... LOL
