OH, my face says it all........ yes, this is my "SAY WHAT?!?" face!!!!! Let me explain..... there is a 4 mile run this weekend that I decided to sign up for.... this is a race that I just can't miss..... I mean #1- there is a really cool t-shirt that is long sleeve and #2- it is a "point" race (there are certain local races that you get points for running and at the end of the year whoever has the most points in your age group gets a cool tank, t-shirt, or sweat shirt (Something of that nature). Come on, we all know us runners are motivated by a t-shirt! LOL! :D
Wellllll, as you know, I am in the middle of training for my first full marathon. And, the coach that designed my training plan said at the beginning of my training, "Do NOT change or alter plan" prior to consulting with him first! So, I emailed him informing him of my plans to run the 4 mile race. I had 10 miles on plan for Saturday and 16 miles for Sunday. In my head, I was thinking that I could warm up for a couple miles, run the race, and then run the additional miles to reach the 10 miles on the training plan..... oh how wrong I was!!!!!
And the above picture shows that revised training plan for this weekend.......... I am to warm up for 2 miles, run HARD for the 4 mile race, and then cool down for 2 miles..... totaling 8 miles.... 2 miles short from the original 10 miles on the plan. But, then on Sunday run 18 miles!!!!! And this my friends, is why I had the "SAY WHAT" face!!!! I wasn't mentally prepared to take on a 18 mile run this weekend!!! HOLY COW!!! That will be my LONGEST run ever!!! And after pushing hard the day before?!?! Oh boy! Well, it is, what it is.... and we shall see how it goes.......... LOL :D
Lesson: Be careful what you ask for!!! LOL! :D
