This may be a scattered blog post describing last week... been a little hectic with all I have going on.... LOL.. Anyway, Saturday, I ran a local 5K that supports breast cancer. My friends Lisa and Arlene also ran..... I actually received 1st in age group with a time of 27:11. My arch nemesis didn't show ;) HA! HA! HA!
Break down of the 5K run:
3.1 miles at an average pace of 8:42
mile 1 8:02
mile 2 8:35
mile 3 9:28
Oh and after the race a runner in front of me says, "Did you see that cotton mouth snake at the edge of the road in the drive way of one of the houses?" .....uh...NO I DID NOT!!! And, I was running along the edge! Seriously, I think I just zone out when running!!!! Life lesson: MUST WATCH FOR WILD LIFE!
After the 5K, there is always "A mile in her shoes" for the fellas who dress in women's shoes. Last year all but one ran in heels, this year, I think everyone ran in pink tennis shoes or slippers except a couple of guys. Some were really a sport wearing earrings and wigs too!....
My son recently joined the cub scouts.... they had an event at the local university football game (the University where I attended undergrad). The below picture is my son and the mascot for the Valdosta State University Blazers, "Blaze!"
This Boy Scout thing has perks!!! You can't get any closer than right on the side lines of the field!!!!! I think I was way more excited than the troops!!!! But I did contained my excitement, but trust me, if it hadn't been for the other parents of the troops, I would have probably went crazy!!! It was a very cool experience! I loved it!!! Wonder if the team needs a Nurse Practitioner for sport injuries!!! LOL!!! Just kidding!! But really, how cool would that be?!?! Travel with the team and get the best view for every game!!!!!!
My son was dressed in his scout uniform, and me with my Blazer shirt! Go Blazers!!!!!
How much closer can you get to the team? This was during warm up!
Sunday was LONG RUN day! My legs were killing me from going up and down the stadium steps, which we really only did a couple of times! Perhaps racing the 5K that morning and then the stadium steps worked my legs! Plus, it was 73 degrees at 6am..... slight breeze, but it was still humid! UGH! Legs killing me and humidity....it was a tough 10 miles!
Break down of the run was as follows:
****10.02 miles at an average pace of 10:27
mile 1 10:25 mile7 10:10
mile2 9:57 mile8 10:51
mile3 9:46 mile9 10:42
mile 4 10:04 mile 10:10
mile 5 10:56
mile 6 11:26 (oh yes, we ran the university parking garage again!)
The beginning of the week's work outs included:
Monday -- rest day
Tuesday -- 2.5 miles with arm and ab work
Wednesday-- 5.01 miles
