So, I had a early wake up call this morning! Left my house at 5:49am in order to drive to town to meet up with a running group to get in 5 miles! I was meeting them at 7am, but due to my long commute, I have to leave an hour earlier to ensure I can get there on time. But, it is so worth it! I love the social aspect of running with other runners! Today, I was meeting 3 new people to run with that a friend of mine had hooked me up with! It was a GREAT 5 miles... man, time passes so fast when running with others!! Some of the other runners were running long and getting in 10 miles, however, due to recently recovering from my foot injury, I played it safe and hung for 5 only.... easing back in... don't need a set back! Next month starts training for half marathon in November!
So, as I was heading out the door, I noticed that my garmin watch battery life was just about gone!!!! Say, what?!?! For a quick second, I freaked!!! Sheesh, too much dependency on technology these days! But, then my mind was eased when I remember that I had this fancy adapter thingy that allows my watch to charge in the car through the cigarette lighter!!!! And, with the fact that I have a long commute..... I had plenty of time for my watch to charge!!! WHEW! LOL!!!
Run went great! Great conversation! Made myself look totally crazy.... let me explain! So, I was chatting telling the others how I don't like to run the trail run that I usually do in the winter because of snakes that come out in summer...... well, during the run, one of the girls says, "Oh, a snake!" I instantly scream, leaped in the air, and might have screamed some more!!! Sheesh! I think I scared every one else and I wash;t even near the snake ANNNNDDD, the snake was dead in the middle of the street! Talk about increasing my heart rate?!? Heck, I think my heart stopped for a moment! Hopefully, the other runners let me run again with them...LOL
Today, my son had a blast at Wild Adventures, a local theme park right here in South Georgia!!!! It was hot! 91 degrees!!!! Humid too!!! But we had a blast! The park was a water park, which we avoided due to it being SUPER crowded! We stayed on the park side that was a variety of rides and animals to see!
Here is my son and I before the "dizzy dines" ride started.... whew! You do get dizzy on these things because as the ride moves in a circle, the dino that you are sitting in spins around! UGH! Wish I would have taken a picture of the ride itself so you could see... it was fun, but a one time thing... LOL!
Neat train ride that takes you through an area of wild animals roaming around.....
Seeing the RHINO was the best part! Man, he is definitely a beast!!!!
There were more animals... so neat being able to see them just roam around!
Ben loved the train ride!!!! So fun!!
Well, going to get dinner going!... Well, that is if I don't talk my husband to going out to eat :) LOL!
Did you run today? in a group? Solo? I love the social aspect of a group! And I LOVE that I am back to running!!!! AND, my foot is feeling great... so far!
Any summer fun today? Do you have local fun things? It is awesome that we have Wild Adventures so close to us!
