I had a little push this Sunday morning. I usually run solo most of the times. I have been waiting to run with the local run group that meets on Sunday mornings for their long runs. I have been invited in the past, but this is the first time that I showed up. It was a great run for me. Usually, I would run on Sunday at a 10:00-10:30 pace, maybe even a 11:00 pace. Today, the group was small. Only 6 runners total. These runners are who I consider the "elite" of Valdosta! They are wicked fast! At local races, these people leave me in the dust! Well, 3 of them were running a 10 miler and the other 2 had 6 miles on tap because they are on taper week. Anyway, the 2 on taper week were nice enough to hang with me. The break down of the run is as follows:
****Total miles 6.24miles at a total at 9:55 pace putting finish time at 1:01:49.
MIlE 1 10:12 pace
MILE2 9:52 pace
MILE 3 9:39 pace
MILE 4 9:24 pace
Mile 5 10:27 pace (during this mile I had to walk a bit and dink some of my Gatorade/water mix
MILE 6 9:56 pace
I was pleased with this run. Hoping that I didn't slow the other 2 too much! Usually I would have run this at a 10:15-10:30 pace. But, I think the push today was good. It is too easy, when running alone, to slack a bit or not push. Running with others kind of holds you more accountable. I felt a bit uneasy wondering if I might be pushing too much, but the others reminded me that I was still being able to talk and that I was just fine! :) That made me feel a little better! It was a good run!
I was the only one carrying anything to drink. Perhaps the ones running with me, as one of my friends told me, know how to hydrate and fuel appropriately evens days before hand. So 6 miles, they didn't need anything. I tend to hydrate like stations are set up during a half marathon every 2-3 miles. So for 6 miles, at least 2-3 times I drink a few sips. I am not sure how the 10 mile group hydrated. Perhaps they previously dropped something some where on their course like most runners do. I am not sure.
Do you think Totally gross or TOTALLY YUMMY?!? My husband and son thinks it is gross that I eat a hamburger without a bun and pile creamed spinach on top. I absolutely LOVE it and do it all the time!!!! And, squash on the side?!? Of course!!! YUM! :)
