These words are nothing but complete truth! This morning while running on the treadmill, my mind was in deep thought! All to often, our mind can make us believe we can't achieve things. Heck, just about 2 1/2 years (maybe more like almost 3 years), I was 40 years old and decided to start running! A 5K seemed so far fetch for me, but I was determined to do it! First 5K time was a little over 3 minutes and now my PR is 26:05. Then, I focused on 10K distance and did it! Then 13.1! Yes, a half marathon, which I NEVER thought I would run! Ran first half marathon in 2:46:something, then second in 2:35:35, and then my PR this past Feb at 2:08:14!!! I was elated! I don't say this to brag... by all means, I am not the fastest runner! But I have conquered the 13.1 mileage! AND, made progress! Now, as the Boston Marathon approaches, I get this crazy bug in my head to want to run a full marathon. I mean, the excitement from reading others blogs that are training for Boston, my twitter feed filled with Boston news, following Shalane Flanagan and her goal to win Boston!!! Come on, who wouldn't get a crazy urge! Well, realistically, I am not there! And at 43, not sure I will ever be! So, for now, I will continue to work on a sub 2 hour half marathon and live vicariously throughout other runners who are in that less than 1% (i think that is correct) that have completed a marathon in their life time! Oh, how I admire them!!!!!!
YEP, it is Monday! My 'lil guy doesn't want to move from the coach to get ready! I can't blame him!!! But hey, spring break is around the corner!!! :)
