Ahhhhh, Sunday.....Long run day!!!!! I had 11 miles on my training plan to cover! I managed 11.25 miles with an average pace of 9:23. I met up with a local running group who are in taper mode for their full marathon next weekend. They were full of spunk today and were cruising!!!! In fact, my pace is much slower than their's..... I kinda followed the pack for most part! :D
It was a cool and rainy morning! Now, when I mean cool, I was still running in a tank top!!! Yes, cool temps to us South Georgia folk is much different than what people up north consider cool!!! LOL!!! I mean, it hits 70 degrees and down here, we think we need a jacket! HA! HA! This morning was mid 60s, I believe. It was just perfect! Drizzled the entire time and the cool rain kept me cooled off.
The picture of the book above is one that my friend, Michelle who lives in Belgium, is sending me. Seriously, this Heart rate training thing is difficult! This morning I felt great! Honestly, I really felt good during the run! However, when I noticed my pace afterwards, I knew that I pushed it today! I don't even want to look at what my heart rate average was!!! LOL! I am eager to read this book. Maybe then, all the questions I have about heart rate training will be answered.... maybe then I will be able to enjoy my runs without getting bogged down with worrying about what my heart rate is averaging.
Break down of today's run:
11.25miles at an average of 9:23 pace
Mile 1- 10:08 Mile 7- 9:32
Mile 2- 9:35 Mile 8- 9:13
Mile 3- 9:31 Mile 9- 9:27
Mile 4- 9:13 Mile 10- 9:06
Mile 5 - 9:23 Mile 11- 9:12
Mile 6 - 8:55
Overall, I am happy with my run! No, definitely not what I probably need to continue. But, maybe when I get that book mentioned above, I will be able to better control my running..... we will see!
My husband and I taught our 6 year old son how to play checkers.... he is actually now quite good and beats us!! And I mean, beats us without us "letting" him win!! LOL! Seriously, these days, it is like a checkers marathon in our house! This kid does not tire of the game!!!! Only time we aren't playing is when we are outside! HA!HA!
