Sunday is always LONG RUN day for me.... Today, I managed 11 miles at an average 10:10 pace. The breakdown of the run is as follows:
Mile 1 10:17
Mile 2 10:03
Mile 3 10:01
Mile 4 10:11
Mile 5 9:10 (think everyone in the running group was feeling energized from the cooler)
Mile 6 10:24
Mile 7 10:14
Mile 8 10:39
Mile 9 10:41
Mile 10 10:18
Mile 11 9:51 (Negative split on last mile, probably just motivated to finish.. ha! ha!)
Everyone in the running group decided to meet a little earlier... so, I was in my car at 4:33am!! Would have been at 4:25am, but I locked myself out of my house and needed my keys to drive into town to meet everyone. And, let me tell you, I was like, "Are you kidding me?!" See, I had to wake my husband up in order to get back into the house to get my keys. EEEK! But, he so graciously let me in, kinda gave me a smirk and turned around to go back to bed! Whew!!! I don't think he ever really woke up to know what what going on... LOL!!!
So, after jumping in the tahoe, I turned on the 90s station and first song that was on was Tupac's "California"..... definitely a song to get the blood flowing and finish waking up! :) LOVE XM radio!
Our runs always take by the beautiful campus of Valdosta State University, although it was very dark this morning when we were running by it.... but you must admit, it is a beautiful campus! I graduated from the School of Nursing in 1996...... it was actually a state college when I first attended and changed to university status while I was attending. Pretty cool!
The picture below is the "garage" that I mentioned in previous posts! It is the garage for the university. Running up this garage definitely gives the legs a work out! It is fun.... or at least that is what I try to convince myself!! :) LOL!
OK, so, I PR'D yesterday..... I was super excited!!! Never had I ran in under 26 minutes for a 5k... Still awaiting the "official" times, but the break down of my watch is as follows:
Mile 1 8:02
Mile 2 8:18
Mile 3 8:35
Funny thing is that I ran most of the race with a group of kids that looked to be about 10 years of age.... they had a grown up that was coaching them along and playing some AWESOME music. She you shout out things like "breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth," "relax your shoulders", "Keep head up", "if you are feeling tired, pump your arms." The music selection included, "Celebration", Marky marky "Good vibration", and "I like Big butts" by Sir Mix-a-lot.... So, I don't know if it was her coaching, the music, or the fact that it was great running weather.... but all I know is that I am over the moon about the PR!!!! :)
Well, I have lots to get accomplish today.... Working on the local 5 k that supports my son's school.... signing off! Until Later!!! Have a GREAT DAY!
Long run for you today? Any challenging hills or garages along your course?
Training for any particular run? Me? I don't have any runs on the calendar as of yet, but I am looking .........
