Sunday is usually LONG run day for me, but that was not the case for me!!!! On Thursday, I awoke with a sore throat and fever. Been sick since! UGH! Had the sore throat Thursday and Friday. Yesterday (Saturday), my throat was simply scratchy, and I just felt fatigued! Today (Sunday), I felt like I had no energy!!! Literally, it was a chore just to get out of bed! Therefore, it was a Sunday fail as far as running was concerned!!! But, let's not focus on the negative..... Although, my running was going quite well lately. My weekly runs were seemingly getting easier, and my long runs just seemed perfect. When I say perfect, I mean I could go the distance and recovery seemed to go great without much aches and pains. Oh well, it is what it is! But, just because you are sick, doesn't mean life stops to allow you to rest when you are a mom..... my child's social calendar kept me going despite feeling ill. Yes, when you are a mom... you get up, you get dress, you put on make-up, and you go with the flow!
So, Thursday was a trip to the pumpkin patch.....(see previous post). We were able to find some awesome pumpkins too!!! Still have to carve those pumpkins..... that is on this evenings priority list!!! Yes, the following pumpkins will look totally different soon!
Friday evening, Ben had a friend's birthday to attend at a local bounce house facility! It was a jumpin good time for all the kids! Ben had a blast!!!
SATURDAY, I rolled out of bed and ran 3.5 miles on the treadmill prior to getting Ben up. Didn't feel the best, but was able to knock out the miles. Then, it was off for a Cub Scout hike at Grassy Pond, a near by natural recreational park that used to be privately own, but now open to the public.
My son was ready for the hike!!!!! The hike is a trail that circles the pond that you see in the back ground. It is a total of 3.1 miles (5K).
You could tell that I was NEVER a girl scout because I forgot mosquito spray!!! Remembered to bring a camera, but NO MOSQUITO spray! UGH! Luckily, some prepared scout's parents shared theirs!!! Thank goodness!
As many of you know, I am chairing a 5K that supports my son school. My son helped me bag up safety pins to be placed in each runner's race packet to secure bibs on race day. We are having a packet pick up the day before in hopes to prevent a mass crowd the morning of the race. If you are local, check out the website at www.stjohnroadrace.org ! There is a carnival right after event that is LOADS of fun too!!!! And, this year's t-shirt looks pretty AWESOME! I didn't have anything to do with design and can not take credit, but I do think it is absolutely FABULOUS!
It will be a great time!!!! Sign up and join the fun! Seriously, this event is for everyone!!!! Walk, skip, jog, or run!!! It is all about FUN!!!!
Well, i was able to get my weekly runs in and a Saturday run, but missed today (sunday-long run day).... hopefully, my consistency in the recent months will allow for me to bounce right back next Sunday! Asked for advice from the "Elite" runners that graciously allow me to run with them on Sundays and they all seem to think I can bounce right back! Also, a friend of mine who lives in Europe who is a top-notch runner agreed as well! This is all assuming that my weekly runs this week go well! We shall see! For my sanity, with everything I got going on, let's hope I "bounce" back!! LOL!!!!!
UNTIL LATER!!! And, thank you all who take the time to read this blog! Much appreciate! And those who email subscribed, I truly THANK YOU! YOU GUYS ARE GREAT! I hope to dedicate more time to this blog in the next couple months.
Time to carve pumpkins.....otherwise, I am never going to get this 6 year old to stop looking over my shoulder!!! LOL!
Does getting sick and not being able to run frustrate you? (with missing a long run, I am beyond frustrated!)
Did any of you run any races? Do tell, would love to hear!!! Even when I am not feeling well, I love to hear about other runner's stories!
